Education

I studied Political Science at Stern College in NYC, where I got to read, write, and explore! I received a dual degree in Arts and Judaic Studies. I finished Magna Cum Laude, wrote for the university newspaper, and served on the Student Activity Board. Before college, I took a gap year and studied abroad at a Teacher's Seminary, where I learned from master teachers.

Experience

I have worked with students ranging from six years old to 18 years old. I have taught 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 9th-12th, as well as run informal educational programming for middle school. I scored in the 97th percentile on my SATs, and was the top student in my AP Language and AP Literature classes. In college, I worked on the university paper, and helped countless friends edit and write essays, applications, and personal statements. As a classroom teacher, I helped first graders construct sentences, and then second graders string sentences together. As a high school instructor, I was able to guide students in how to best articulate their arguments. Aside from writing, I am skilled in math- all the way through calculus, and am a patient teacher. I am fluent in Hebrew, and well versed in Judaic studies also. In working with students, I offer to read the book, prompt, or passage that the session will focus on before I meet with my student so that we can maximize our time together.

Hobbies

I play the cello, read voraciously, and edit essays for fun. I'm easy to get along with, flexible, and passionate. People also often tell me I'm funny- which makes me great at dinner parties! I worked in a camp setting for 6 summers, with campers ranging from 7 years old to 16 years old, in North America and abroad. I prepared lessons in ethics for daily study groups for 7th graders, and lessons in kindness and generosity for high schoolers the following summer. I have the tools and talents to help draw out the crux of the matter, and help essay prompts not seem so daunting. I know that looking at a blank Microsoft Word document can be scary, but I can help with every step of the process of an essay- all the way to turning it in. For the younger students, I can help guide in reading a passage and relaying what the core ideas were, and how to best summarize what was read.
