I have a Masters Degree in Special Education from Bank Street School of Education. I have a Reading Specialist Degree from University of Miami.
Experience
I love teaching students to read and write using fun games while making them laugh and enjoy learning. I use special educational programs and manipulatives to help students struggling with reading or dyslexia. It is very important to me to make the learning experience interesting and enjoyable, so these students learn to love reading. I also teach students to love and feel comfortable with writing using the writing workshop methodology introduced by Lucy Calkins who stressed that writing should come from within the child. Through the child's own writing all the crafts and skills of writing are taught.

Hobbies
My favorite hobbies include hiking, biking, cooking, kayaking and reading. Living in Florida makes it hard to hike, so in the summer, I go with my family to states with mountains to do some beautiful hikes. I also love kayaking in the summer enjoying the peaceful calming lakes that are near the mountains. Living in Florida, I enjoy the beach all winter long, where I bring a good book and can sit and read for hours.
